During PMQs today in Parliament, local MP Lucy Allan raised her concerns about the future of the Princess Royal Hospital with Deputy Prime Minister David Lidington MP.
This followed a meeting earlier in the week with the Health Secretary where Ms Allan made the case that the Future Fit plan to move emergency care from Telford must be called in for review.
During the meeting, the Telford MP also raised her concerns about health outcomes and health inequalities in Telford and the importance of meeting the needs of a growing population.
Under current proposals, Telford would lose emergency care provision and women and children’s services which would be moved to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Lucy Allan said:
“Last week it was announced that the Emergency Services and the Women and Children’s services will be moved from Telford’s PRH out of borough.
“I have asked the Health Secretary to call in this decision for review because the needs and health outcomes of people have not been considered.
“Will my Rt Hon friend join me in urging the Health Secretary to review this decision and listen to the concerns of people in Telford & Wrekin?”
Responding, David Lidington MP said:
“I understand that she met with the Health Secretary and I am sure he will be reflecting carefully on the case she put to him then.”
