Lucy Allan, the MP for Telford, has welcomed the issuing of cold weather payments to vulnerable households in Telford.
Payments will be made automatically to those eligible in areas such as Ketley, St. Georges, Oakengates, Trench, Malinslee, Brookside, Woodside, Dawley and Ironbridge.
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Cold Weather Payments are triggered when the average temperature at Shawbury weather station is below zero degrees for seven consecutive nights.
The value of the payment is £25 per week.

“These payments are vital for those most in need, particularly during this period of cold weather.
“This extra support will ensure that the most vulnerable residents in Telford will be able to keep warm and stay safe.
“I urge anyone in Telford who is in receipt of state benefits, to contact the Department for Work and Pensions to check if you are eligible for these payments. This extra support really does make all the difference.”
