Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion has today announced the completion of the rollout for all police officers in the region to be equipped with bodycams.
The announcement comes three months ahead of schedule after the PCC pledged to equip the force by the end of 2017.
Speaking out about this news, Telford’s MP Lucy Allan said:
“I am very pleased to hear that this initiative has been completed three months ahead of schedule.
“I raised this issue a little over a year ago in Parliament when I spoke out about the tragic death of Dalian Atkinson and called for all police carrying any sort of weapon to wear bodycams.
“This is to guarantee their safety as well as the safety of the public.
“I pay tribute to the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion and his team who have listened to the views of the public and the police and have put measures in place to protect officers but also protect the community.”
