Telford MP Lucy Allan has welcomed the latest unemployment figures showing a drop in unemployment benefit claims locally of 12%.
Office of National Statistics figures for December 2016 show that 125 less people were claiming out of work benefits in Telford compared to December 2015.
Since the Conservative Party entered government unemployment has dropped in Telford by 57%, with 1,531 no longer relying on out of work benefits.
Lucy said: “I’m pleased to see that unemployment is again down in Telford.
“With local businesses growing and further development, such as that at T54, planned I look forward to seeing unemployment numbers continuing to decrease.
“Telford really is on the up and these figures are a further illustration that businesses locally are succeeding.”
