Telford MP, Lucy Allan has been joined by the Business Secretary, Sajid Javid MP, in congratulating Telford businesses, colleges and training providers for the support they officer to apprentices.
At Business Innovation and Skills questions today, Lucy asked: “The Secretary of State will remember several visits he made to my constituency Telford so he will be delighted to know that on Thursday this week the Telford International Centre is hosting a national apprenticeships show including local employers such as Capgemini, Stadco and Juniper Training. Telford has had dramatic fall in youth unemployment and will he join me in congratulating in Telford businesses, colleges and the many people who have helped youngsters get the first step on their career ladder?”
To which the Minister replied: “Firstly I’m pleased to see she is wearing the apprenticeship badge today to mark this important week. I do recall fondly a number of the visits to Telford and some of the visits we had with local businesses. I will warmly join her in congratulating those local businesses, colleges, the training providers in the work that they’ve done to boost apprenticeships up 120% over 5 years in her constituency. It means thousands of young people helped to achieve their full potential.”
