Three pupils from Old Park Primary School, Jamie, Jayden and Keeley, today took over Lucy Allan MP’s office as part of the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge.
The Takeover Challenge is now in its ninth year and sees children and young people from across the country step into adult’s shoes for the day and see how workplaces function.
As part of the Takeover Challenge Jamie, Jayden and Keeley had a meeting with Lucy to discuss what Lucy does at Parliament for Telford as well working with her small team to gain an understanding of all the work that goes into representing Telford at Westminster.
Jamie, Jayden and Keeley said: “We were all really happy when we found out we’d get to spend the day with Lucy. It’s been really interesting learning about everything she does for Telford and how busy she gets helping everyone.”
Commenting on the Takeover, Lucy Allan MP, said: “It’s been a great experience having Jamie, Jayden and Keeley takeover my office for the day. All three showed great enthusiasm in the tasks they were given and were fantastic ambassadors for their school. I hope they got as much out of the day as I did.”
Old Park Primary Headteacher, Ms Mandie Haywood, said: “I’m pleased that our three pupils enjoyed their day so much with Lucy, I’m sure this is something they will remember for a long time and will no doubt be talking about in the playground on Monday. I’d like to thank Lucy for providing this unique opportunity.”
