Telford MP Lucy Allan has welcomed news that cooker manufacturer AGA Rangemaster is being bought by Middleby and has obtained assurance from the company’s chief executive that jobs and pensions will be protected in the buyout.
The company, which has two sites in Telford, employs around 420 people in the town and is being sold for £129million.
Lucy Allan MP said: “AGA is a fantastic company and a great local employer. Their Ironbridge foundry has roots dating back to Abraham Darby and it’s great that they maintain it as an active foundry to this day.
“I have spoken to AGA’s Chief Executive William McGrath about what this deal means for the future of the company. He has assured me that jobs and pensions will be protected in the sale which is fantastic news, and that the well-known Aga brand will be retained and developed.”
“This deal shows that Telford is a place that international companies want to invest in. Telford is the birthplace of industry and that spirit continues today.”
