Lucy Allan MP has welcomed the emergency budget by Chancellor George Osborne.
The budget announced a higher minimum wage and an increased personal tax allowance, meaning that low-earners will pay less tax. The new proposals mean that in April 2016, 822 Telford residents will be taken out of the tax system – and 38,662 will benefit from a tax cut.
Lucy Allan, MP for Telford, said: “I am pleased to see a commitment to help those on low pay by way of the introduction of the national living wage for over 25s.
“This budget is strong budget for working people, ensuring people keep more of the money they earn and that people are better off in work than on benefits.
“This budget is focusing on the low paid and this is good news for Telford.”
