Telford MP, Lucy Allan has today toured Telford Fire Station and met with firefighters to discuss the work of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and learn about their training.
During the visit to the Stafford Park based fire station Lucy learnt about the varied roles that the Service carries out from putting out fires, rescuing people in car crashes to the educational work carried out in schools and the community to help keep people safe.
As part of the tour around the fire station Lucy was able to see the modern equipment that fire fighters have at their disposal to use in emergency situations as well as Service’s training centre which can be tailored to provide a number of different fire scenarios.
After the visit, Lucy said: “I’m grateful for the time that Shropshire Fire and Rescue were able to give me in showing me around Telford fire station and talking to me about the job they do.
“Firefighting is an incredibly courageous job and we are fortunate to have brave men and women prepared to put themselves at risk to help others.
