Telford MP, Lucy Allan, has visited Telford BHS on its final day of trading to speak with staff and offer her support for the future.
As a result of BHS moving into administration and no new buyer being found, Telford’s store has had to close.
Speaking after her visit, Lucy said: “BHS was one of Britain’s best known high street and shopping centre stores and the loss of this brand is a sad day for British retail and Telford Town Centre.
“I used to work as an administrator of failing businesses I know first-hand the difficulties that closure brings.
“In many cases like this, it is young people and women who are disproportionally affected due to the nature of the retail workforce. Any former BHS staff experiencing difficulties should feel free to contact my office for advice and assistance.”
