Lucy Allan, Telford’s MP, visited Telford mental health charity Mind to mark Volunteers Week and has welcomed Government plans to make access to mental health care easier.
The Telford MP is giving 10% of her salary to local charities, including Mind, and is calling on the Government to acknowledge the importance of accessible walk-in mental health support services run by charities.
Lucy Allan MP said: “This Government said in the Queen’s Speech that access to mental health care is going to get even easier.
“Mind is a great example of the community coming together to help those with mental health issues. They run a drop-in service and offer a counselling service where those who need it can get professional help.
“Volunteers Week is a great way to raise awareness of the fantastic work that volunteers do up and down the country, and Telford is a great example of how volunteers can make a difference to people’s lives.
“The Government needs to do more to acknowledge the importance of mental health charities like Mind.”
