Telford MP, Lucy Allan is urging Telford residents to support Telford Town Park’s nomination as the Field’s In Trust best UK Park.
Telford Town Park won the national award last year beating off stiff competition in the final shortlist from Duthie Park in Aberdeen and Gheluvet Park in Worcester. Around 8,500 votes were cast showing the level of competition between parks.
Telford Town Park joins 25 other town parks from the West Midlands region and every vote is needed to ensure Telford once again triumphs. Residents can vote for Telford Town Park by visiting http://www.fieldsintrust.org/bestpark/westmidlands and clicking vote now under Telford’s description.
Speaking about the award nomination Lucy Allan MP said: “It was a great achievement for Telford that our park won the Fields In Trust best UK park award. Defending that title is going to take even more effort and I urge everyone in the town to support our park.
“The town park has some many wonderful features from the lake at Southwater to the Chelsea and Maxwell Gardens. It caters to all of Telford whether it is for those who keep fit by taking part in the weekly park run, parents who take their children to play on the playground or people going to one of the many events held in the QE2 arena, the park is a place enjoyed by all.
“The town park’s enduring quality and success last year would not have been possible without the many hours that Friends of Telford Town Park dedicate week in week out and I am grateful for all they do. The Friends keep the park looking beautiful all year round.”
Voting runs until 5pm on Wednesday 9th November with the winning park announced on Wednesday 30th November.
