Telford’s MP has welcomed the announcement made today by the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion that West Mercia Police will receive an additional 100 Police Officers to serve the area.
Ms Allan has been out on the beat with the local police force in Telford on several occasions to see first-hand the work they do to keep the community safe. Ms Allan will also be taking part in the 'Give a Day to Policing' summer initiative where she will go on patrol with local police officers in Telford next week.
The additional 100 new officers across the force area will now take West Mercia to 2,030 police officer posts.
The increase in resource is in response to calls from the community that more visible police officers are needed. The additional officers will be funded by efficiencies being made in back-office functions, reserves held in West Mercia and flexibility by the Home Office in precept setting.
Lucy Allan said:
“I am delighted that the Police and Crime Commissioner has listened to the community in Telford and is providing 100 new frontline Police Officers to serve our area.
“It is vitally important that as crime continues to rise, we have the right resource to keep our streets and community safe.”
