Telford MP, Lucy Allan MP, was pleased to welcome pupils and staff from Newdale Primary School on their visit to Parliament today.
The 57 pupils and 8 staff received a full tour of Parliament, including both the chambers of the Commons and the Lords, covering not only the history of the building but a run through of how Parliament functions.
After the tour, Lucy welcomed the school to Parliament as Telford’s MP and held a questions and answers session in Westminster Hall.
Speaking after the tour, Lucy said: “It was great to welcome Newdale Primary to Parliament and to take pupils’ questions. It was clear that all the pupils had enjoyed the tour from the questions they posed afterwards. Engaging children in politics and the role of Parliament is an important part of democracy.”
Year 5 teacher, Racheal Gears added: “We’re grateful that Lucy was able to arrange this tour for us all. The pupils were looking forward to the tour for quite a while and there were a number of excited faces this morning.”
