Today in Parliament, Lucy Allan met with Home Secretary Sajid Javid MP, to discuss the progress of the Telford Independent Inquiry into CSE as well as future funding for the survivor led support group, The Holly Project and CSE prevention in Telford.
The Home Secretary has made tackling child sexual exploitation a key issue for his department and has ordered research into ‘cultural drivers’ of grooming gangs.
During the meeting, the Home Secretary was able to suggest some funding options which are available for The Holly Project to apply for such as Building a Stronger Britain Together and the Early intervention youth fund.
Lucy Allan said:
‘I am grateful to the Home Secretary for pledging action on this horrendous crime.
‘I was pleased to have the opportunity to highlight the fantastic work of The Holly Project and to raise the case of a Telford victim.
‘I am keen to see the Telford Inquiry get underway so that victims and families get the answers they deserve and it was useful to discuss this with the Home Secretary.’
The Home Secretary said:
‘I know that Lucy Allan continues to work very hard to get justice for CSE victims in Telford.’
