Yesterday in Parliament, Telford’s MP met with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matthew Hancock MP, to make the case that the Future Fit plan to move emergency care from Telford must be called in for review.
Ms Allan raised her concerns about health outcomes and health inequalities in Telford and the importance of meeting the needs of a growing population. Under current proposals, Telford would lose emergency care provision and women and children’ services which would be moved to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Lucy Allan said:
“I am confident that the Secretary of State really heard my concerns and the case for calling this plan in for review. We must have 24/7 A&E in Telford and we have to look at ways this can be achieved.
“The Secretary of State is waiting for a formal request from the local authority to call in the decision. He has given me assurances that he will give this matter his full consideration and that it is a top priority for him."
