Lucy Allan MP has today welcomed the news that Telford Town Park has been nominated again in the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Park 2017 award.
Fields in Trust protects and champions parks and green spaces in perpetuity for communities to enjoy. Since the Trust was founded in 1925, they have protected over 2,700 sites, including playgrounds, playing fields, and formal and informal parkland totalling 30,000 acres of land across the UK.
The UK’s Best Park Award gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite local green space; the public vote will run until the 3rd November. The top park in each of England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland will be shortlisted before the winner is announced at the Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony on 29th November.
Responding to this announcement, Lucy Allan MP said:
‘I am delighted that Telford Town Park has been nominated again for the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Park 2017 award.
‘The town park is arguably the jewel of Telford's crown and it is fantastic for it to receive this national recognition.
‘The Friends of Telford Town Park work externally hard all year round and volunteer hours of time to make the park the tranquil and special place that it is.
‘I urge everyone in Telford to pull together and vote for Telford Town Park as the UK’s Best Park. You can visit www.fieldsintrust.org/bestpark to find out more and cast your vote.
‘You could also show support for our park on social media using the hashtag #LoveYourLocalPark.’
