Telford Sixth Former Chloe Forrester has described her visit to Parliament yesterday for International Women’s Day as a “fantastic experience”.
Chloe was invited to Parliament for a day long workshop by Telford MP Lucy Allan after initially getting in touch about a work shadowing experience.
Chloe, who joined with girls of a similar age from across the country, got to watch a Women and Equalities Select Committee meeting, receive a tour of 10 Downing Street and take part in a Q and A session with female Parliamentarians, business women and academics including Mims Davies MP, Baroness Brown of Cambridge (Professor and Vice-Chancellor of Aston University) and Fiona Cannon OBE (Diversity and Inclusion Director at Lloyds Banking Group).
At the end of the visit Chloe said: “Today has been a fantastic experience and has just flown by. As someone who is interested in politics this was great opportunity to see not only where and how our democracy functions, but to actually watch it happen in person. Hearing from female MPs on International Women’s Day was very inspiring and highlighted that women of all ages have so much to offer us all."
Commenting on Chloe’s visit, Lucy Allan MP said: “I’m delighted that Chloe had such a good day and I hope that this event is run again next year to provide the same opportunity again.
“International Women’s Day is an important occasion and I am pleased that the events put on today were able to help mark it through excellent opportunities for a number of young women.”
