Lucy Allan MP will be opening Hollinswood and Randlay Parish Council’s first International Day on Saturday 10th October. The “Taste the World” event, the first of its kind, will feature food and cultural experiences from countries including Poland, India, and Ghana. Lucy Allan MP said: “This event will be a great display of community spirit. It’s important for everyone to come together to celebrate both our differences and the things that we share. “This is an area with a fantastic multi-cultural community, where in addition to English, over 17 different languages are spoken by residents in Hollinswood alone. “I encourage local residents to turn up for a brilliant day, with entertainment, food, and a quiz.” There will be traditional goods available to taste and national costumes on display. There will be crafts available and an opportunity to see traditional dance and you will be entertained by music from the different countries. There is no charge to attend and light refreshments will be available. On arrival, you will be invited to take part in our One World Quiz – all the answers will be available on the displays and stalls within the centre. The event, which will be held at Randlay Community Centre, starts at 11:00am and Lucy Allan MP will be opening the event at 12:30.
