Telford MP, Lucy Allan has today visited the Viessman Group a leading international heating, industrial and refrigeration systems manufacturer based on Hortonwood.
As part of the visit Lucy toured the installer training facilities, heard about Viessmann’s product range and spoke with some of the 95 employees based in Telford.
Lucy was also able to discuss Viessmann’s role in the Business Environmental Support Scheme for Telford, a partnership that enhances environmental performance of Telford businesses and boosts efficiency. As part of this partnership Viessmann have worked with local business Stadco and are currently working with Thomas Telford School.
Whilst visiting Lucy was able to discuss with Viessman staff current energy policy and the impact on UK household bills. Viessmann has recently proposed to Government measures to improve the efficiency of people's existing boilers.
Commenting on the visit, Lucy said: “It’s great that a company like Viessmann is based in Telford. Manufacturing is a key part of the Telford economy and provides job opportunities to many people. Telford is fantastic place to do business
“I was particularly interested to hear Viessmann’s proposals on improving the efficiency of existing gas boilers. Heating bills for many people represent a major outgoing with some people having to choose between ‘heating or eating’ bringing bills down as much as possible can only be a good thing. It was estimated in Telford in 2013 that around 10% were in fuel poverty.”
