On Thursday 12th November Telford MP, Lucy Allan, was pleased to visit local educational charity Telford Drive in Hadley having been invited to come and witness first-hand the excellent work being undertaken.
Telford Drive teach young people from local schools about car and motorbike maintenance. With a training room, engineering room and workshop young people are able to be taught in a holistic manner that encompasses both theoretical and hands-on practical training. As well as aiming to teach young people new skills they also aim to increase confidence and build self-esteem.
Commenting on the visit, Lucy said: “It was great to come and see for myself the excellent work that Telford Drive are doing with some of our youngsters. Classroom based teaching isn’t for everyone and this charity offers a vital service in giving practical hands on experience.
“Through support and commitment Telford Drive are delivering on their mission statement of “helping and encouraging young people to realise their true potential” and are a valuable organisation that we are fortunate to have in Telford.”
