Lucy Allan, Telford’s Parliamentary Candidate, has presented a bottle of champagne signed by London Mayor Boris Johnson to a pub raising money for Help for Heroes.
Lucy presented the champagne to the landlord of the Plough Inn in Wellington, to be auctioned off at the pub’s charity day on Bank Holiday Sunday.
Lucy, whose brother served in Afghanistan and published a book called: Afghanistan: a Tour of Duty, in aid of BLESMA said: “Help for Heroes is a great cause and I’m sure Boris’s bottle will help raise a lot of money.
“Ed and Ruth Lowe, who run the Plough, have held this event every May Bank Holiday, and they’ve even been invited to the Royal Garden Party as a result of their hard work.
“This event is a great example of Telford spirit and I’m proud to support it. I’m sure the fun day will raise a lot of money for a really good cause. The team have raised £65,000 over the past five years – they have a lot to be proud of.”
