Lucy Allan uses the final day in Parliament to once again place Princess Royal Hospital front and centre
Today during Business Questions in Parliament, Telford’s MP raised the Future Fit process and Princess Royal Hospital with the Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom MP.
Lucy Allan said:
“Our local hospital Trust has spent the last four years deliberating over its plans to invest in the future of local hospital services. Regrettably, the trust has been paralysed by indecision, bureaucratic incompetence, and a complete failure to communicate with my constituents.
“The proposals for the future of our hospital have descended into complete disarray, with all those involved losing confidence in the management's ability to deliver.”
The Leader of the House replied saying:
“I know this has been a great concern to her.
“I understand the Future Fit programme board will meet on the 31 July to hear the outcome of the Independent Review and the work relating to the Women & Children’s impact assessment. The joint committee will then meet on 10 August to consider recommendations made by the board and next steps including public consultation.
“I think she is absolutely right to keep raising this.
Lucy also raised the issue on 3rd July with Health Minister, Steve Brine MP at Health Questions.
Lucy Allan said:
“We must make sure that we do everything possible to ensure Future Fit finish their deliberations and that we jointly solve this problem now. We have lost out on one tranche of funding because Future Fit did not have a finished plan.
The Council and the MPs must make sure we get Future Fit over the line, so we do not lose out on further government funding due to any further additional delays. The Council needs to be more constructive and work with MPs, clinicians and Future Fit to get the deal done."
