Telford MP Lucy Allan joined over 100 members of Telford and Wrekin Senior Citizens Forum at The Place, Oakengates for 2016’s AGM.
In addition to the regular business of the AGM the Forum said a fond farewell to retiring co-ordinator Anne-Marie Davies who joined the forum seven years ago. During Anne-Marie’s time the Forum has grown both in membership and events despite funding cuts from the Telford and Wrekin Council and NHS. In 2015, Anne Marie supported the forum in obtaining £271,200 in Big Lottery funding to safeguard the Forum’s future for the next five years.
The forum also heard from a Telford and Wrekin Council officer who spoke to the Forum about the Council’s Street Champions and Snow Warden’s scheme.
Speaking after the AGM, Lucy said: “It is great to see how strong the Telford and Wrekin Senior Citizen’s forum is. The forum plays an invaluable role in bringing together residents providing both social and educational opportunities. A large part of this is down to the work of Anne-Marie, who has been invaluable to the Forum.
“In her six years working for the Forum Anne-Marie has helped grow the membership, increase the numbers of events held and double the newsletter print-run. She will without doubt be missed by the Forum and be a hard act to follow.”
