Lucy Allan, MP for Telford, dropped in at a Future Fit roadshow held at Oakengates to learn more about how the Future Fit Process is progressing.
The Future Fit process which will reshape how emergency care is delivered in Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire has overrun and caused much anxiety for residents.
The current timescale is for an options appraisal this autumn followed by a formal consultation beginning December 2016. A preferred decision will then be announced in Summer 2017.
Speaking after the drop-in, Lucy Allan MP said: “There has been misinformation swirling around about Future Fit and I am pleased the Hospital Trust is holding these roadshows, speaking to residents and providing information.
“Residents are rightly concerned about healthcare in Shropshire. It is important to remember that all the services currently delivered in the county will continue to be so.
“From my perspective Telford is the best place to site new Critical Care Unit. Telford has a fast growing population, pockets of severe deprivation and excellent transport connections.”
