Lucy Allan MP has visited Telford Carers Centre’s stand at Sainsbury's in Telford to raise awareness of Carer's Week.
The charity has been raising awareness of the work they do to ensure that carers are supported. They also work to find ‘hidden carers’ – people who might not realise that they are the carer for a disabled, vulnerable, or elderly relative.
Lucy Allan said: “Telford Carers Trust do a great job supporting Telford's carers, providing advice and pointing them in the right direction for help.
“Too many people don’t realise they are carers, or don’t know where to turn for support when they’re looking after a loved one.
“I spoke with the team, who do fantastic work. They told me about the issues carers face and the work they do - from group meetings to social events and trips.
“I’m particularly keen to help Telford’s young carers, who can be under intense pressure to make sure their loved ones are receiving proper care, while juggling school and trying to hold on to their childhood.
“The Centre organises trips and family fun days for young carers to help them socialise and enjoy themselves.
Telford Carers Trust hold a drop-in session at Southwater One every week from Monday-Thursday and their offices are at the Glebe Centre in Wellington.
