Lucy Allan MP asks Education Secretary to consider vaccinations for teachers

Wednesday, 6 January, 2021

Today in Parliament, Lucy Allan MP asked Education Secretary Gavin Williamson MP to look at ways that teachers can be facilitated to return to schools safely, including through higher prioritisation for vaccination.

Whilst it is welcome news that the Government is providing laptops for children working at home, and allowing those without to come in to schools for face-to-face teaching, Lucy was clear that there is no substitute for full, in-person teaching.

Schools and children's education is an absolute priority for Lucy and the Government, which has only taken the step to close schools temporarily given the high level of transmission of the new strain of coronavirus.
