I give 10% of my salary to Telford charities.
Before being elected I supported Telford charities in different ways. As the MP I continue to support the fantastic work of our volunteers and local charities by donating part of my income as an MP to local good causes.
In 2015/16 I donated £5,500 of my income to the following fantastic Telford charities:
Hilbrae Rescue Kennels (Hilbrae is there to take care of dogs and find new homes, when they have been abandoned - visiting a rescue dogs is always an enjoyable experience)
Telford Mind (when 1 in 4 people will suffer from ill mental health, its groups like Telford Mind that do invaluable work to support people. Having visited Mind on several occasions it’s clear their work makes a real difference)
Telford Street Pastors (having spent a couple of nights with the fantastic street pastors it is easy to to see how valuable their work is for our community, in helping people stay safe at the end of their night out)
Stay Telford (Stay does amazing work helping people with housing. Sleeping rough for the night in 2014 for a Stay fundraiser gave a first-hand experience of why Stay is so important)
This year I will be supporting SSAFA and Dawley Baptist Church as well as smaller community projects run by volunteers.
