A £12 million care complex within the Telford Millennium Community has been officially opened.
Leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group has cut the ribbon on its state-of-the-art Rose Manor Extra Care scheme and supported living accommodation at Oleander House.
The developments, which cost £10.6m and £1.7m respectively, sit side by side in Ketley Park Road and form part of the burgeoning 21st century village.
Both were opened by Telford MP Lucy Allan who was also given a tour of the facilities, which features a communal hub with a restaurant, beauty salon and gym.
Rose Manor comprises 86 one and two-bedroom apartments for the over 55s, available for rent and shared ownership.
Residents are able to live independently safe in the knowledge that flexible support and care is on hand should their needs change.
Similarly, Oleander House offers adults with learning disabilities a secure environment and access to support 24 hours a day.
Here there are 12 one-bedroom rented apartments, supporting residents to live independently by delivered person centred, tailored support such as assisting with personal care, taking medication and finding work.
MP Lucy Allan said: “It is imperative that people have peace of mind when it comes to care, but it is just as important for them to maintain their independence for as long as possible. Both these developments allow residents to do this in a safe and comfortable environment.
“It was good to have the opportunity to look around the facilities and speak to some of the residents in their new homes.”
Dave Williams, Sanctuary’s development manager, said: “It was a pleasure to show Lucy Allan around Rose Manor and Oleander House and we look forward to working with her in the future.
“This is a major development for Sanctuary and a key addition to the Telford Millennium Community. There are some older person shared ownership apartments still available at Rose Manor which provide the perfect option for those looking to downsize whilst continuing to feel like they are living in a community. We hope our new residents will settle in well in their new homes.”
Both schemes were built by appointed contractor Seddon Construction and each benefitted from funding from the HCA and Telford & Wrekin Council.
As part of the Rose Manor development and Sanctuary’s commitment to investing in the communities in which it works, £24,000 was provided to refurbish and replace windows at Ketley Methodist Church, as well as £6,000 to upgrade the kitchen at Ketley Community Centre.
