Lucy Allan, Telford’s Parliamentary Candidate, has welcomed the announcement by Ludlow MP and Defence Minister Philip Dunne that a contract securing a 13-year logistics programme at MOD Donnington will go ahead.
Confirmed last month to be the preferred bidder for the contract, Leidos will run and improve efficiencies in warehousing procurement and stock control of food, clothing, general and medical supplies as well as storage and distribution.
The contract is part of a transformation of the MOD’s Logistics Commodities and Services, known as LCS(T), and aims to provide these services in line with industry best practice while ensuring best value for money for the UK taxpayer.
Lucy Allan, Telford’s Parliamentary Candidate said:
“MOD Donnington is incredibly important to the town and this extra investment means more jobs, more apprenticeships and more opportunity for Telford.
“Telford’s history is steeped in supporting the defence industry, with MOD Donnington, Defence Support Group and RAF Cosford all nearby, supported by private companies like GKN.
“This deal is incredibly good news for Telford and I’d like to thank Philip Dunne for helping to bring this investment to the town.”
