Telford MP, Lucy Allan, was pleased to be able to support Carers Rights Day by dropping into Meeting Point House on Friday 20th November to meet with the Telford and Wrekin Young Carers Service.
At Meeting Point House, Lucy was able to hear about the support available to young carers from Telford and Wrekin Young Carers who have supported young carers aged 5-18 since 2006 with advice, information and opportunities.
Across Telford there are over 9,000 carers with approximately 50 extra people becoming carers each year.
Commenting on the visit, Lucy said: “It was great to visit T&W Young Carers Service and hear about the work they do supporting young carers. Young carers take on a valuable role to help their families and should be applauded for the love and commitment they give each and every day. Having a service there that can respond to their needs is vital to ensuring that the pressure of caring doesn’t overwhelm”.
