Lucy Allan, Telford’s Parliamentary Candidate, is sleeping out with ‘Stay Out 2014’ on Friday 28th November to help raise money for Stay, the Telford based charity helping homeless young people.
Lucy Allan said: “Lots of young people in Telford find themselves homeless for a whole range of different reasons, from family breakdown to leaving the care system with nowhere to go.
“It can be an enormous struggle to make it on your own and to live independently without help and support.
“A strong family makes a massive difference to the life chances for young people; too many do not have that opportunity.”
“I think it is brilliant that Telford charity Stay is helping young people to overcome the difficulties they face when they have to go it alone, without family.”
“Stay Out 2014 is a fantastic opportunity to help raise funds and raise awareness of the issue of homeless young people.”
John Green, Stay’s Chief Executive, said: “Stay Out 2014 is our opportunity to shout about Stay’s work with homeless people, raising awareness of issues facing young people and bringing in money to support the charity.
“The Stay Out gives people a small insight into the reality of homelessness by asking people to sleep outdoors for one night and it is excellent news that Lucy, as well as representatives from other political parties, are keen to develop their understanding of the issue and the work that Stay does.”
Stay Out 2014 takes place on Friday 28th November at Meeting Point House from 7:00pm to 6:00am. If you would like to take part go to http://www.staytelford.co.uk/events-page/stay-out/.
