Last week, Telford Parliamentary candidate Lucy Allan joined the expanding online community to have taken part in the ice bucket challenge.
Lucy Allan was nominated for the challenge by her staff and work experience students in aid of The Georgia Williams Trust, and proceeded to take a drenching from her team with the help of Daniel Kawczynski (MP for Shrewsbury). A recording of the event was soon uploaded to YouTube and Facebook.
The Georgia Williams Trust is a local organisation dedicated to providing young people with the experiences and activities that they need in order to get on in life, and whichpromotes contributions to local communities as well as developing the participant’s confidence and independence.
In the video Lucy Allan says that the trust is “a great charity” and has previously pitched in alongside the BBC’s ‘Apprentice’ star Karren Brady, in raising funds, presenting the trust with a cheque for £1427.50.
Lucy further added: “It is incredibly important that young people in the community are given the right opportunities in order to pursue fulfilling careers and make the most of what life has to offer. I am glad that there are charities like The Georgia Williams Trust that are committed to preparing Telford’s youth for active roles in the community.”
Lucy is continuing to support the charity having promised to donate 50p for every like her facebook page receives up to the amount of £500. You can like Lucy's facebook page here.
Lucy also challenged prospective conservative council candidate Phoebe Phillips, and MP David Wright, to take part.
